Great deals daily!

This is an incredible once in a lifetime lot- original, from the estate of Clayton Hawkes from the Castle Creek NY area, who owned Martin Bros Circus (as well as Clayton's Combined, Bogart and Hawkes, and the Great American School Show), and spent a lifetime in the circus.  This lot consists of photos, tickets, route cards, clippings, programs and more!  Where to start (everything pictured is in this archive, plus more not pictured!)....  1)There are 25 Martin Bros Circus Programs from 1936 in nice shape except he wrote his name inside.  2) There are 41 route cards (schedules) for various Northeastern tours- Barnum & Bailey from 1910, 1916.  Downie Bros Circus- 1933, 1934.  Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey 1937 (some damage) and 1956 (penciled on top- last year under Canvas) and 1969, Carson and Barnes 1961, Robbins Bros Circus with Hoot Gibson 1938, 101 Ranch Real Wild West Show- 1931, Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus 1934, Sells Floto Circus and Buffalo Bills Wild West 1931, Arthur Bros Circus- 1945, Cole Bros Circus 1945, 1947.  Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros Circus- 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971.  Cristiani Bros Circus- 1957.  Kelly & Miller Circus- 1961.  Bartok Circus 1969.  Al G Kelly Miller Bros- 1963.  Hagen Bros- 1960, King Bros- 1961, 1963, 1970.  Barnett Bros Circus- 1938.  James M Cole Circus 1942.  3) Two large scrapbooks- one of which is filled with clippings about Roadshow Films (16mm) which apparently he dealt in on the side- with a lot of 1940s handbills arout movies showing- such as Hoot Gibson in the Cowboy Counsellor, Sharing Contract with the Miller Bros and 101 Ranch Road Show, Bill for the Greene Milfred Theatre, articles clipped about the circus and laws regarding it (the new employee injury law) and how to advertise it, etc, bill for Ben-Hur at the People's Theatre and many more, some movie programs etc.  The other scrapbook is a lot of clippings including newspaper pictures and articles from the 1930s and 1940s regarding the circus, plus ad bill for James M Cole Circus from 1941, 4) miscellany such as Zip the Clown (Ray LaRouche) ad blotter, Topsy-Mae Noell and Tommy postcard, Bob Gibbs Jr ad postcard, Bob with Joe the Boxer (boxing gorilla) ad postcard, contract for use of lot, Jimmie Lnch Death Dodgers order form, freight bill, roughly 20 ad bills including Paulinos Mystery Show, Bugarts, Jingling Bros Bayron and Barley, Noahs Ark, Hawkes and Brown, Claytons, a couple of lists of the acts and their order including one which is handwritten, some tickets and more, 5) Two incredible letters- one from 1941 from Sam Dock talking about a monkey that was a boozehound, about working in 1892 with Barnum and Bailey and the Flying Jordans as well as about upcoming plans.  The other letter is from 1941 and also from Sam Dock- talking about the war and how it will affect business- as WWI was good for business except it was tough to find workers, and more.  6) The photos- 3 negatives, 59 slides, 9 8x10 photos and 402 photos ranging from snapshot to middle-sized- just incredible.  Pictures from the 1920s to the 1960s with most being 1930s to 1950s.  Miniature elephants, lots of train cars including Arthur Bros Circus.  Many of the pictures are identified too which will make them invaluable to any circus historian- Robert Miller and a Monkey, The 4 Millers in uniform, Old Hattie the elephant, a camel, Freda Lee Velda
